A client wants to advertise on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. AND, he or she wants to send visitors to his/her website. NO! STOP!

These people shouldn’t be advertising on social media — anywhere — for one reason: They’re just NOT ready.

To advertise on social media, you need:

* a Squeeze Page: a headline, 3-5 benefit-driven bullet points about your product and an optin form. You can have a picture of your giveaway or of you.

* said giveaway: something valuable that people will want to optin to your list to get — a book chapter, a discussion of something vital to your niche, or a checklist regarding something important to your niche. It has to be something people in your niche crave.

* an autoresponder: a service that allows you to build an optin form and that houses the information your form collects. A free service is MailChimp. (Up to 2,000 subs.)

Sending people to your website with ANY ads is a waste of money. With a squeeze page, you’ll collect names and email addresses of people who are interested in what you have to say. If they just go to your website, you’ll probably never get a chance to communicate with them again. If you have them on a list, you can give information to and market to forever or until they unsubscribe.

Otherwise, you’re just throwing money away. It’s absolutely pointless. Don’t do it.
