I’ve been telling you how great Pinterest is for business. I have clients that use it and find that they’re getting some pretty darned good traffic from it, and they’re making sales. I mean, how cool is that? Just pin a pic and collect dough. You don’t even have to pass go!

You do have to enter your website into Pinterest business and verify that you own the website with an HTML file that you download from Pinterest. Simple enough, unless you aren’t into FTP. Then, you may need your webmaster to do take care of the verification process for you.

Once you have that in place, you can now see what people are pinning from your website! So, be sure to have those Pinterest buttons anywhere it makes sense. You can download buttons from the Pinterest site. If you’re using Jetpack for WordPress, you’re good to go. Just add the Pinterest button to your sharing sites.

Running a business is hard and unless you approach it professionally by watching your metrics with everything you do, you probably won’t have that business very long. This is a metric that Google Analytics can give you some information about, but you see it in a different, less convenient way. Pinterest is giving it to you in a way that is very helpful and easy to understand.

What Pinterest Analytics will tell you:

  • How many people are pinning from your site and seeing how things progress from there, over time.
  • Learn what the people who pin your stuff like the most. What product images do they pin the most? What images get the most repins?
  • The number of impressions your pins get
  • How many times someone clicks on an image
  • Your most recent pins

Lots of good stuff that you can use to improve your inventory, position your products on your Web pages, and more. Try it. You’ll be happy with the intel you get.
